Narrated by Dan Aykroyd, Hotel Paranormal debuted on The Travel Channel, officially known as TRVL, last Saturday, July 11th. Mr. Aykroyd, a serious believer in the paranormal, delivers a tempered dialog drawing viewers into the reenactments of various paranormal phenomena occurring in hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts. The official show website finally loaded just in time for the US debut, https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/hotel-paranormal. The show debuted internationally in Canada and then transitioned to the US market. It’s refreshing to see the cable channel branch out locating fresh faces—and very experienced experts in the field—and trying out new shows.

Dan Aykroyd narrates each episode.

The first season consists of 5 episodes, at least. The first one, “Paranormal Predator,” profiled 3 separate events. The first segment was the longest and retold Frank Ramirez’s chilling stay in a motel in Texas, 2017. This segment was also the most compelling. Actual video and photographs supplemented the story. All three segments featured realistic reenactments with minimal gimmicks.

Three paranormal experts reacted and responded to the segments. Michael J. Worden, author; Tim Weisberg, paranormal expert and radio host; and Linda Zimmerman, paranormal expert, calmly discuss different aspects of the hauntings. They do not overplay the event and speculate dramatically. They appear professional and rationale—something missing in US paranormal TV shows.

New episodes air on TRVL on Saturdays. The episodes replay on the following Sunday. If you missed an episode, view the episode guide https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/hotel-paranormal. For the first episode, the replays are listed here https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/hotel-paranormal/episodes/paranormal-predator.

TRVL has a hit in the making. Polished and slick, Hotel Paranormal channels The Twilight Zone and offers new stories with a film noir touch.

2012 edition. Balzano and Weisberg are updating and expanding the second edition.

Calling all collectors of the macabre. Authors Christopher Balzano and Tim Weisberg are updating their best-selling non-fiction book, Haunted Objects: Stories of Ghosts on Your Shelf (2012). And they’re looking to expand the offerings by sharing stories of recently found antiques, family lore past down through the family, or an anecdote regarding a new item that you’ve noticed misbehaves.

These Spooky Southcoast radio broadcasters have been retelling stories of haunted objects since 2006. In 2012, they published their compilation of short vignettes and stories. Since then, they have new stories. However, they’re looking for more.

If you have a haunted object story to share, please contact Tim Weisberg at Tim@midnight.fm.

And just for fun, tell them The Haunted Librarian told you!

A new Internet radio show debuted tonight, Monday, April 6th. The Midnight Society with Tim Weisberg, https://midnight.fm/, kicked off a new paranormal format show at 9 PM CST. The show runs weeknights, 9 PM-midnight. The Midnight Society with Tim Weisberg will be one show in a robust line-up on the brand-new station. More shows are forthcoming. The first episode was a huge success.

Tim Weisberg has carved out a niche in radio broadcasting. Beginning in 2006, Tim, along with co-host Matt Costa, started Spooky Southcoast, http://spookysouthcoast.com/. SSC can be heard on WBSM every Saturday night, 10 PM-midnight. They broadcast from New Bedford, Massachusetts. They also upload programs to YouTube.

Recently, Tim took over the helm for another radio program Midnight in the Desert. His relationship, along with his producer Michelle Freed, ended last week. The pair quickly formed a new network and began booking guests over the weekend.

Tonight’s show was a soft broadcast. The administrators anticipated technological issues; however, there were barely any. Tim was apologetic by reinforcing that the station would be tweaked. I didn’t notice anything that hindered my listening. In fact, the show sounded more professional than shows that have been online for years.

Moving forward, the station will be adding features to enhance the listening experience. Subscriptions will be available. In the meantime, all of the shows will be archived and available for free. Skype, chat rooms, merchandise are all planned.

Tune in tomorrow for Twin Peaks’ actor James Marshall, who played “James Hurley” in the iconic series, as he discusses some of his paranormal experiences.

The show’s tagline sums it up: Where it’s always midnight. Instead of staying up all night, catch this radio show in the evening hours. Hit up the various social media sites like Facebook midhnight.fm and Twitter @MidnightDotFM and @MNiteSociety. Check back for my updates.
